Continental Tires introduces three new products in the Chinese market 2022-10-11    SONG MENGXING

Continental Tires launches the first of its Generation 7 products in China market.

German conglomerate Continental Tires is renowned for using cutting-edge technology in its premium tires since its inception in 1871.

It possesses 24 centers of production, research and development across the world that serve a variety of vehicles including passenger cars, trucks and buses.

The year 2022 marks the "year of products" for Continental Tires, with the company launching three new tire products this year — the eContact, Color Sidewall, and Ultra-Contact UC7 tires.

eContact is the first EV tire category for Continental Tires.

Launched in June, the eContact model is exclusively designed for new energy vehicles while China maintains its global leadership in NEV production, sales and ownership.

Due to the fact that NEVs lack a spare tire, Continental Tires claims that all eContact tires are equipped with its ContiSeal technology, in which 80 percent of all punctures are fixed instantaneously. A sticky, viscous sealant layer inside the tire closes punctures up to 5 millimeters in diameter. NEVs differ from fuel-powered vehicles in their engines and have higher standards for reducing tire noise levels, according to industry insiders.

The noise reduction technologies applied on eContact can help realize a decrease in interior vehicle noise, which also provides better comfort for NEV.

Color Sidewall tires are targeting at Generation Z.

Continental Tires' Color Sidewall tires are available in an array of colors, which stand out from the typical all-black design.

Tire companies normally add carbon black into their products' rubber, making them sturdier and less abrasive. The Color Sidewall tires can perform as well as traditional black-colored tires while offering users new and trendier choices, Continental Tires said. The move toward multicolor tires promoted Continental Tires' idea that "not all dare to live colorfully". The brand encourages Chinese customers to showcase their individuality by trying new tires.

To further its case, the company partnered with Chinese graffiti artist Lu Hongzhen, whose work done with Continental Tires is displayed at a couple of Shanghai art museums frequented by Gen Z, referring to those born between 1995 and 2009.

UltraContact UC7 tires are the first mass-produced Gen 7 tire in China.

Continental Tires' UltraContact UC7 was launched in September and prioritizes safety, apart from offering a uniquely smooth and quiet driving experience.

With this tire, Continental Tires hopes to maintain the successful trend of its sixth-generation products. Mass production of the Ultra-Contact UC7 has begun at Continental Tires' Hefei plant in China.

Owing to three key technological advancements, Diamond Compound, Noise Breaker 3.0, and Aqua Channel Advanced, the tire safely navigates wet roads while upholding Continental Tires' tradition of producing tires offering smooth and low noise level drives.

The brand plans to launch its seventh-generation products in the coming years.

The company said it will persist with the concept, "in the market, for the market", and continue its development driven by scientific and technological innovation while aiming to play a role in every outstanding car journey.
