With the theme of Open Source and Openness, Joint Contribution and Shared Benefits — Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace, the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit concluded on Thursday.
It focused on frontier issues of the digital-intelligence era and the international community's concerns about artificial intelligence.
Beyond the opening ceremony and the main forum, 27 sub-forums spotlighted major topics such as interconnection of intelligent agents; robotics and embodied intelligence; spatiotemporal intelligence; and digital-intelligence technologies for low-carbon development.
On Monday, at the Light of Internet Expo, a signature event of the WIC Wuzhen Summit, more than 30 embodied-intelligence robots — from companies such as AgiBot, UBTech, Unitree and Zhongke Fifth Era — brought visitors to the world of perceptual intelligence.
Among them, the world's first bipedal humanoid robot capable of playing badminton with humans autonomously became the centerpiece. The robot has also mastered table tennis; the faster the ball travels, the faster it reacts.
The expo attracted 671 companies and institutions from 54 countries and regions, showcasing and launching more than 1,000 new technologies and products in satellite internet, quantum communication, 6G, intelligent agents, large models, embodied intelligence and cybersecurity governance.
A showcase for building the demonstration zone for common prosperity through digital empowerment, held concurrently on Monday, highlighted how digital technologies can brighten daily lives.
Representative examples of the event included the digitalized production of Xianju bayberries; smart aquatic-product factories; AI farming aided by low-altitude technology; and smart cultivation of Tongxiang's tomatoes.
A forum centering on how AI can empower scientific research was held on Wednesday. It revealed that from serving science to getting embedded into research workflows, and then to scientific discovery itself, AI is no longer merely a tool but a collaborator in research.
This year's summit also featured a fashion hub that can think, the Puyuan fashion center. Puyuan is a renowned knitwear market in Zhejiang. As an example in the traditional garment industry, it is upgrading amid the wave of AI. At the entrance of a clothing store, after stepping up to an AI fitting mirror, shoppers could "try on" a sweater they picked at a touch of the screen.
A range of AI applications — including foldable glasses-free 3D displays and a security and fire-safety system — also made their appearance in this town. According to a summit staff member, these tangible digital applications were underpinned by an intelligent digital foundation supported by computing power and large language models.
The Zhejiang provincial government hosted a series of major events during the 2026 WIC Wuzhen Summit, featuring interactive experiences and surprises.
Dong Zhao, deputy director of the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Zhejiang, said that intelligent technologies represented by large models, intelligent agents and embodied intelligence are driving the internet to evolve from connecting information to connecting intelligence, and from information interconnectivity toward connectivity of everything.
The Global Internet Competition of "Straight to Wuzhen" is another highlight event of the WIC Wuzhen Summit. Since registration opened in June, it has attracted 1,347 projects and one-person company entries from 31 countries and regions. The Digital Economy Industrial Cooperation Conference held on Wednesday was a signature event of the Wuzhen Summit's permanent venue. Over the past three years, annual signings of digital economy industrial projects at the event have each exceeded 100 billion yuan ($15 billion).
