International students at Xi'an Jiaotong University engage in discussions

International students at Xi'an Jiaotong University participated in various cultural activities on campus to celebrate Lantern Festival in early March, immersing themselves in traditional Chinese culture.

Many students said it was an interesting experience and that they gained a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions through activities such as guessing lantern riddles and practicing Chinese calligraphy.

At XJTU, such events are held regularly, which not only enrich the campus life of international students but ship and mutual understanding.

With an emphasis on international cooperation and exchange, XJTU has established 147 international undergraduate student recruitment bases across 28 countries and regions. The university is committed to fostering students with global vision through joint programs, cultural activities and student exchanges.

Authorized by the Ministry of Education, XJTU and the University of Liverpool jointly founded Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2006 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. As a Sino-foreign cooperative institution, XJTLU integrates the advantages of the largest of its kind in China. XJTLU offers more than 100 degree programs with English as the teaching language. Graduates earn two degrees- an XJTLU degree accredited by the Ministry of Education of China and an internationally recognized degree from the University of Liverpool.

In collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, Italy, XJTU established the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School in 2022. The partnership integrates Italy's creative, multidisciplinary approaches with China's technical expertise, jointly nurturing well-rounded talents in the design and engineering sectors.

XJTU has also set up a “China Center" with Samarkand State University in Uzbekistan. The center features comprehensive collaboration spanning language and culture, student exchange, technology innovation and international industry-education integration, providing a new paradigm and quality platform for educational exchange between the two countries.

Both POLIMI and Samarkand State University are members of the University Alliance of the Silk Road(UASR), a non-governmental and non-profit organization initiated by XJTU in 2015. Through its network spanning 207 universities across 45 countries and regions, the alliance has ties in education, science and culture.

XJTU also serves as the Chair Institution of the University Alliance of the Yellow River Basin. The alliance aims to advance cultural heritage protection, ecological management and economic and social development in the Yellow River Basin by establishing a think tank, exploring scientific research cooperation mechanisms, and strengthening cooperative talent cultivation and resource sharing.

In addition, XJTU has demonstrated support for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, contributing to global cooperation and governance in higher education. over the responsibilities of the SCO University President's Office (Chinese side) from Dalian University of Foreign Languages. About two months later, the Digital Education Alliance of SCO Countries was founded, with XJTU as a founding member. On Sept 2, the China-SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center was launched at XJTU.

As a joint initiative by XJTU and the Shaanxi provincial government, the center will focus on key tasks such as regional research, educational governance and digital education, providing "SCO wisdom" and "SCO solutions" for the global education
