A staff member from the Yuanping operation yard of Taiyuan North Rolling Stock Depot in Shanxi province conducts technical inspections of a railway car in snowy winter. As it is a railway hub that is mainly used to transport coal, more than 15 trains pass through the yard each day, with most coming in at night. Every inspector needs to bend down at least 300 times during a full check to ensure the safe operation of each train. During the recent annual work conference, the country's railway operator China Railway promised to optimize the supply of passenger and freight services, strengthening the backbone role of railways in the nation's transport system.
