The railway employees are working to ensure timely delivery of Shanxi-produced agricultural material to Yunnan's croplands for help in its farming season. During its recent annual work conference, Chinese railway operator China Railway promised to optimize the supply of passenger and freight services, better developing a modern logistics system and strengthening the backbone role of railways in the comprehensive transport system. It aims to expand the operating mileage of railways from the current 165,000 kilometers to 180,000 kilometers by the end of 2030.
