Two robotic debaters "converse" after the semifinals of the first China (International) Robot Debate Competition in Beijing on Sunday. The competition comprises three stages: The preliminary round featured 14 teams, each represented by a human and a robot debater; the semifinals pitted human debaters against their robotic counterparts from opposing teams; the finals, to be held on Sunday, will be contested only by robots. Debate topics spanned issues of the digital age, such as the societal impact of brain-computer interface technology. The event evaluates the robots' logical coherence, linguistic expressiveness and on-the-spot adaptability.
