New facility to boost electricity reliability

Chinese power workers have added new facilities to address peak load usage in summer. The 500 kilovolt Jinniu Transmission and Transformation Project, a supporting facility for the 800 kilovolt UHVDC (Ultra High Voltage Direct Current) transmission from Shaanxi province to Anhui, started operations, adding a capacity of 2,000 mega-volt amperes. The facility, located in Anhui's Lujiang county and built by Anhui Power Construction Co, can serve 2 million people for work and non-work needs. To date, all five such facilities undertaken by the company in 2025 have commenced operation, adding a total capacity of 7,000 MVA with a line length of 294 kilometers.
