In a memo to staff, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said on Thursday the company plans to save $10 billion in 2025. The job cuts come close on the heels of a disappointing quarter and forecast for the iconic chipmaker founded in 1968 at the start of the PC revolution.

Mpox cases spike by 160% in continent
African health officials said Mpox cases have spiked by 160 percent so far this year, warning the risk of further spread is high given the lack of effective treatments or vaccines on the continent. The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report released on Wednesday that Mpox, also known as monkeypox, has now been detected in 10 African countries this year, including Congo, which has more than 96 percent of all cases and deaths. Officials said nearly 70 percent of cases in Congo are in children younger than 15, who also accounted for 85 percent of deaths.
