Premier meets IMF managing director
Premier Li Qiang met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva in Beijing on Friday, saying the Chinese economy has been steadily recovering with positive overall improvement. Li said that China will further advance reform and opening-up, optimize the development environment for private enterprises, stabilize foreign trade, and attract and utilize foreign capital with greater efforts. Georgieva said the IMF highly appreciates China's strong leading role in achieving global economic growth. All parties should work together to ensure the stable and smooth operation of the global supply chain, she said.
Schools to ensure physical activity
Chinese primary and secondary schools have been asked to ensure that students engage in at least two hours of physical activity daily, with one hour during and another outside of school hours, as per a ministry circular on myopia prevention and control. Schools with the necessary resources are encouraged to extend daily in-school outdoor activity sessions to a duration of two hours, according to the circular issued by the Ministry of Education announcing the launch of a monthlong nationwide campaign for myopia prevention and control.
