Bank commits loans to reserve forest
China Development Bank, one of the country's policy banks, had by the end of August committed 130.8 billion yuan ($18.42 billion) in loans to the national reserve forest and other ecological projects in regions along the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The loans involved 2.13 million hectares of shelter forests, covering all provincial-level regions listed in the national reserve forest project in the Yangtze River Basin.
Software sector reports revenue growth
China's software industry reported a 9.8-percent year-on-year increase in business revenue in the first eight months of the year, according to official data. Revenue of this sector totaled 6.44 trillion yuan ($907.07 billion) from January to August, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show. Companies in the sector raked in 695.2 billion yuan in combined profits during the period, up 3.6 percent year-on-year.
Container throughput in Chinese ports rises
Container throughput in Chinese ports continued stable growth in the first eight months of the year, data from the Ministry of Transport showed. In the January-August period, 194.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units of containers were handled at ports in China, up 4.1 percent year-on-year, according to the ministry.
