Beijing Wanli commercial and entertainment complex officially opens to the public on Friday.
Wanli, an international commercial and entertainment complex located in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center in Tongzhou district, officially opened to the public on Friday.
Situated close to Universal Beijing Resort, the complex features a variety of brand stores, drawing in both locals and tourists eager to experience a new model of urban micro-vacation.
The project comprises three main business segments. Among them, the Nous Land Hotel has begun its trial operation ahead of schedule. Well Town shopping mall and Tingyun Town have also launched trial operations.
Well Town boasts more than 400 brand stores, with its three distinct atriums becoming popular among visitors.
Adjacent to the shopping mall, Tingyun Town is designed as an open-block garden community. Its aim is to cultivate a vibrant nighttime economy with a focus on shopping, dining, entertainment and tours, particularly among younger customers.
A standout feature of Wanli is its concentration of first stores. In Well Town, city-first stores make up 60 percent of the total. Meanwhile, Tingyun Town hosts more than 50 high-quality brands, including more than 10 national and city-first stores and more than 20 Tongzhou-first stores.
Looking ahead, Wanli plans to cooperate with Universal Beijing Resort, Central Green Forest Park, and the three major cultural facilities in the Beijing MC. Their bid is to elevate consumption in the Beijing MC and create a new paradigm of comprehensive cultural and tourism experiences that cater to all times, areas and ages.
In addition to Wanli, the Beijing flagship store of Liverse, a leading immersive music performance brand in China, recently started operations. Its inaugural event was a concert by Alan Tam, which provided an audiovisual feast for fans.
Nie Wenjiadai, general manager of Liverse, highlighted that unlike traditional stadiums or music theaters, Liverse's venue design prioritizes the audience's experience."The two stages at the venue can be linked, making it an ideal location for large-scale indoor music festivals accommodating around 6,000 people. Such a spatial scenario is rare in Beijing's performance market and across the country too," Nie said.
Furthermore, Liverse aims to establish an integrated music ecosystem for "discovery, incubation, and presentation", striving to become a hub for the new generation in the Chinese music scene. This initiative is expected to inject cultural vitality into Beijing MC, enrich the quality of cultural offerings in eastern Beijing, and create a new landmark for music and culture in the capital and beyond.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), significant cultural and tourism projects have been implemented in the Beijing MC. For example, in September 2021, the fifth Universal Studios theme park globally and the third in Asia opened, becoming a major attraction.
In February 2024, Beijing (Tongzhou) Grand Canal Cultural Scenic Area was rated as a 5A-level scenic spot, emerging as a "new business card" of the district.
Also, in May 2025, the 1.3-kilometer-long west bank pedestrian street in the Canal Business District officially opened. Featuring small stores and a "dopamine" color scheme, it has attracted large crowds.
The Beijing MC has also introduced sports events such as the dragon boat carnival, elevating the popularity of the canal's west bank to rival traditional business districts like Wangfujing and Dashilan.
