A wave of innovative digital platforms, utilizing artificial intelligence and data, is pinpointing and fulfilling the needs of workers, as enterprise trade unions accelerate their high-tech transformation to boost engagement and well-being.
For Zhang Min, an employee at Continental Automotive Electronics (Changchun), the day begins with opening the "Lexianghui" app. This all-in-one employee care platform keeps Zhang informed on everything from the day's cafeteria menu and company notices to the status of worker requests, earning strong approval from employees.
"This app is a real gem. Not only can I take care of tasks and access learning resources on the platform, but I can also participate in inclusive benefit activities and get help with challenges. With just a tap of my finger, I can enjoy the convenient services provided by our 'family at home'," Zhang said.
Continental Automotive Electronics (Changchun), established in 1995, is a high-tech enterprise invested by German Continental Group, a Fortune Global 500 company. It currently employs over 1,700 staff members.
The company has long prioritized providing employees with accessible and tangible services. In early 2024, guided by the Changchun trade union federation, it launched the innovative "Lexianghui" platform. This mobile-based mini-program integrates six functional modules — from ideological guidance to daily services — through digital solutions, enabling instant response, emotional engagement and online-to-offline synergy for precise and efficient employee support.
The platform has implemented a real-time notification system, delivering company-wide announcements to more than 95 percent of employees within one minute. It also integrates features such as live shuttle tracking, daily canteen menus and a second-hand marketplace, streamlining both work and daily life for staff members.
Additionally, through channels such as the online platform and offline discussion sessions, employee feedback can be swiftly escalated. The company ensures that simple issues receive responses within five business days, while more complex matters are resolved and closed within 14 business days. Employees are invited to evaluate the solutions, forming a closed-loop management system.
"This efficient two-way communication model ensures that employee voices reach management directly, while also facilitating the precise implementation of corporate decisions and measures. It enables employees to genuinely feel valued and respected, effectively enhancing both management efficiency and employee satisfaction," said Bu Yingqi, chairman of the trade union of Continental Automotive Electronics (Changchun).
According to the company, the "Lexianghui" platform records over 73,000 visits annually. Through multidimensional improvements in areas such as ideological guidance and daily services, overall satisfaction has increased. The platform's reward system — where 95 percent of employees have earned badges for their participation and achievements — has driven a 30 percent jump in employee innovation outcomes, an 18 percent increase in new employee retention and a 25 percent rise in talent retention, solidifying its role as a core engine for enhancing employee well-being and energizing corporate vitality.
Beijing Shiyuan Innovation Technology, a subsidiary of CVTE, a high-tech enterprise focused on interactive display and AI, has integrated smart trade union services into every corner of the workplace, all enabled by digital and intelligent tools.
Leveraging its technological expertise, the company's trade union has developed a distinctive smart platform. Across its campus, a "voice of the trade union" communication network — composed of more than 100 cloud screens — ensures systematic and digital delivery of all promotional content.
"By introducing the cloud-screen publicity system, a network of hundreds of such screens forms the 'voice of the trade union' communication matrix. Combined with diversified new media channels — including official social media accounts, video platforms and internal forums — the system enables digital, structured content delivery. This approach expands outreach, enhances targeting precision and helps embed trade union services more deeply into the daily experience of employees," said Chen Jiaqi, chairman of the trade union at Beijing Shiyuan.
