Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan chairs a meeting between Ukrainian and Russian negotiators in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Friday. Russia and Ukraine agreed to each exchange 1,000 prisoners of war, and discussed the possibility of a ceasefire as well as a potential meeting of their countries' leaders, said negotiators from both sides. Moscow and Kyiv last held direct talks in March 2022, in the early weeks of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which also took place in Istanbul. See story, page 6
