Mid-range missile fired toward eastern waters

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea fired an intermediate-range ballistic missile on Monday toward its eastern waters, said the Republic of Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The ROK military detected a projectile believed to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile that was fired toward the eastern waters from Pyongyang areas at around noon, according to the JCS. It said the military maintained full readiness posture while closely sharing relevant intelligence with the United States and Japan. It marked the DPRK's first missile test launch in about two months after firing a short-range ballistic missile on Nov 5.

Bar shooting leaves 7 dead, 5 wounded

A shooting at a bar in southeastern Mexico left seven people dead and five wounded, authorities said on Sunday. A manhunt was launched for the perpetrators on Saturday night in Villahermosa, Tabasco state, the secretariat of security and civilian protection said. "Analysis of video surveillance cameras is being carried out and elements of the state and federal authorities have deployed coordinated patrols to locate and arrest those responsible," it added.

More than 30 million in need of aid, UN says

More than 30 million people, over half of them children, are in need of aid in Sudan after 20 months of devastating conflict, the United Nations said on Monday. The UN has launched a $4.2 billion call for funds, targeting 20.9 million people across Sudan from a total of 30.4 million people it said are in need amid "an unprecedented humanitarian crisis". On Sunday, at least 10 people were killed in an airstrike that targeted an area south of Khartoum, said the South Khartoum Emergency Room, a volunteer group.
