Xi, Botswana's president exchange congratulations over nations' diplomatic ties

President Xi Jinping vowed to make joint efforts with Botswanan President Duma Boko to open a new chapter of the China-Botswana strategic partnership, as they exchanged congratulations on Monday over the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his message, Xi praised the good momentum of bilateral ties over the past 50 years despite changes in the international landscape, saying that China and the African country have become good friends who treat each other equally and good partners who have joined hands for development.

Xi said he firmly believes that as long as China and Botswana remain committed to sincerity, friendship, solidarity and coordination, the two countries will surely enjoy a broader avenue of bilateral relations and brighter prospects for cooperation.

Boko described the 50th anniversary as an important milestone in the relationship between Botswana and China.

He said his country has been greatly inspired by China's extraordinary development achievements and believes that the strategic partnership between the two countries will bring opportunities for the African country's inclusive development.

China, Peru agree to enhance communication, mutual understanding

China's top legislator Zhao Leji and the nation's top political adviser Wang Huning met separately in Beijing on Monday with Eduardo Salhuana, president of the Congress of Peru.

In his meeting with Salhuana, Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, pledged to enhance communication and exchanges with the Congress of Peru to deepen friendship and create a sound legal environment for bilateral pragmatic cooperation.

By introducing China's reform and opening-up, as well as the legislation in China's special economic zones, Zhao said that China would like to strengthen exchanges of legislative experience with Peru in relevant fields.

Salhuana said that Peru is willing to enhance cooperation with China in areas including trade, investment, electricity and people-to-people exchanges.

The Congress of Peru supports enhancing ties with China, and stands ready to deepen friendly exchanges with the NPC, he said.

When meeting with the Peruvian official, Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the nation's top political advisory body is willing to advance cooperation with Peru in making contributions to promote the joint advancement of modernization in both nations.

Salhuana expressed willingness to boost exchanges and mutual learning with China to promote mutual understanding and friendship between all sectors of society of the two countries.
