Mercedes-Benz unveils electric off-road model

Mercedes-Benz launched the all-new electric G580 First Edition at Auto Guangzhou. Priced at 2.17 million yuan ($300,041), it signifies the brand's entry into the electric era for luxury off-road vehicles. The G580 is equipped with four independently controlled electric motors, each paired with its own transmission to produce a combined power output of 432 kilowatts and peak torque of 1,164 Newton meters. The model's advanced drive system supports specialized off-road capabilities, such as G-Turn, G-Steering and an intelligent off-road crawl function. It features a 122 kWh battery pack, enabling a range of 571 kilometers per charge under the China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle.

GMC's distinctive Yukon designed to impress

General Motors' import platform, The Durant Guild, introduced its second model, the 2025 GMC Yukon, at Auto Guangzhou. Available in two variants priced at 808,000 and 898,000 yuan, the Yukon is designed to deliver luxury and performance. The spacious SUV features a 2-2-3 seating configuration, equipped with leather executive seats that offer ventilation, heating and massage functions. The Yukon's advanced intelligent cockpit boasts a 16.8-inch central screen, an 11-inch digital instrument panel and dual 12.6-inch rear entertainment screens, creating an immersive multimedia experience. Powering the vehicle is GM's TurboMax engine, delivering 500 Nm of torque and paired with a Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission.

Versatile Xia MPV primed for launch in early 2025

BYD unveiled the tech-focused interior of its midsize flagship MPV, the Xia, at Auto Guangzhou. As the first model in BYD's Xia series, it showcases the brand's latest interior design language. Measuring 5,145 millimeters in length, 1,970 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, with a 3,045 mm wheelbase, the MPV offers versatility with third-row seats that fold, flip flat at the push of a button, and slide 100 mm forward or backward. The vehicle is equipped with the DiLink 150 smart cockpit powered by the BYD 9000 AI chip, supporting three-screen media interaction among the central display, passenger screen and ceiling-mounted screen, along with gaming via controllers and AR glasses. The BYD Xia is set for launch in the first quarter of next year.

Porsche goes 'old school' with gas-driven Targa 4

The new 911 Targa 4 GTS made its Asian debut in Guangzhou on Nov 13, two days before the city's auto show. Showcasing cutting-edge engine technology, the Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS features the T-Hybrid powerful high-performance hybrid system and remains a pure gasoline-powered sports car with no electric range. At the heart of the drive system is a new 3.6-liter engine that produces up to 357 kW and 570 Nm of torque without electric motor assistance. The total system output reaches 398 kW with maximum torque of 610 Nm. Equipped with the Sport Chrono package, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 3.1 seconds. The ultra-lightweight 911 Carrera T and the Porsche 911 Turbo 50th Anniversary Edition also made their Asian debuts on the same day.

BMW debuts latest made-in-Shenyang offering

BMW introduced its second domestically produced BMW M performance vehicle, the new BMW M235L four-door coupe, at Auto Guangzhou. It marks the first domestically produced M performance sedan and the first BMW four-door coupe manufactured in Shenyang, Liaoning province, home to BMW Brilliance. The M235L is equipped with BMW's most powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 221 kW and paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds. The model features BMW's 9th-generation dynamics management system, which processes sensor data with precision to predict and coordinate chassis functions.

Lexus flagship SUV at forefront of hybrid tech

Lexus launched the all-new LX 700h flagship SUV at Auto Guangzhou, starting at 1.25 million yuan. The model continues the LX series' tradition of exceptional reliability, durability and powerful off-road capabilities while achieving new advancements in design, performance and technology. As the first hybrid model in the LX series, the LX 700h features a new hybrid system designed for off-road use, integrating an electric motor and clutch between a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering a maximum power of 336 kW and peak torque of 790 Nm. The cabin of the LX 700h blends technology and practicality, featuring a user-friendly multiscreen system with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen paired with a 7-inch vehicle information control screen.

Bentley adds three to Mulliner division

Bentley Motors unveiled three new models from its Mulliner division at Auto Guangzhou: the fourth-generation Flying Spur Mulliner, the Continental GT Mulliner and the Continental GT Convertible Mulliner, all making their debuts in China. They feature Bentley's signature ultra-high-performance hybrid system, which combines a 4.0-liter V8 engine generating 600 horsepower with an electric motor that adds 190 horsepower, delivering a total output of 782 hp and peak torque of 1,000 Nm. As Bentley's personal commissioning division, Mulliner is dedicated to fulfilling customer requests for tailored features for any Bentley.

Lincoln Navigator debut marks 10 years in China

The all-new Lincoln Navigator made its Chinese debut and its first limited edition started pre-sales at Auto Guangzhou, marking Lincoln's 10th anniversary in the Chinese market. With a length exceeding 5.3 meters, a width over 2 meters and a height close to 2 meters, the Navigator showcases the boldness of an American flagship SUV. The extended-wheelbase version measures nearly 5.7 meters with a wheelbase over 3.3 meters, emphasizing its grandeur. All variants come equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, allowing a maximum output of 440 horsepower and peak torque of 691 Nm. The model also features intelligent four-wheel drive and a CCD adaptive suspension system.
