Li: Beijing ready to expand cooperation with Jakarta
Premier Li Qiang said that China is willing to maintain the good momentum of high-level exchanges with Indonesia and make good use of dialogue mechanisms at all levels to strengthen policy communication and coordination. He made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting in Beijing with visiting Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
Li called on the two countries to further enhance the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative with Indonesia's development strategy and speed up the construction of key projects including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor.
Li stressed the need for China and Indonesia to expand cooperation in emerging industries such as the digital economy and strengthen exchanges on poverty relief and rural vitalization while deepening bilateral cooperation in traditional sectors such as agriculture and fisheries.
The premier also said that China is ready to join hands with Indonesia to enhance communication and cooperation within multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, in order to jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries and make positive contributions to the prosperity and stability of the region and the world.
Speaking of choosing China as his first overseas destination since winning the presidential election, Subianto said he is committed to consolidating the two countries' friendship and cooperation and elevating bilateral ties.
