People walk on land cracked by drought near the Liqiao Reservoir in Shandan county, Northwest China's Gansu province, on Wednesday. Shandan's average temperature in June reached its highest level since 1953. The county has made efforts to ensure water supplies for domestic use and farmland irrigation, and also arranged for drones to spray foliar fertilizer to improve plants' ability to resist high temperatures.
