Kuaizhou test rocket completes vertical trial

A test version of the reusable Kuaizhou rocket completed a vertical takeoff and landing trial on Friday afternoon. The test rocket, developed by the Expace Technology Co, a company affiliated with the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, used a liquid oxygenmethane engine. The flight time lasted 22 seconds, and the rocket hovered in the air for nine seconds, with a height accuracy of 0.15 of a meter. The landing posture of the test rocket was stable, the landing position was accurate and the rocket body was in good condition, signifying the success of the experiment, according to the company.

Flood, drought control HQ serves Liaohe River

China on Saturday inaugurated the flood control and drought relief headquarters for the Liaohe River Basin, which spans multiple north and northeastern regions. The headquarters' responsibilities include guiding and coordinating flood and drought control efforts within the Liaohe River Basin, as well as across other neighboring river basins situated alongside the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea. Minister of Water Resources Li Guoying said the headquarters should prioritize ensuring the safety of lives, property and water supply. Li also emphasized the need to strengthen the capabilities of risk warnings. The Liaohe River, which flows through the provinces of Hebei, Jilin and Liaoning and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is one of China's seven largest rivers.
